Beneath Dunia Baru’s striking silhouette lies an exceptional feat of marine engineering. Created in collaboration with an American yacht design and boatbuilding team, she was meticulously crafted to meet international superyacht standards while preserving the traditions of Indonesian wooden boatbuilding.
Locally sourced teak and ironwood form her elegant phinisi yacht design, while her engineering systems were developed in accordance with Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia classification requirements and the internationally recognised standards of the American Boat & Yacht Council. The result is a remarkable balance of heritage, safety, reliability and guest comfort.
Timeless Craftsmanship Meets Modern Mastery
Her name, Dunia Baru, means “New World” in Indonesian—a reflection of the spirit of discovery at the heart of every yacht charter in Indonesia.
Designed to honour the nation’s seafaring heritage, Dunia Baru carries the soul of a traditional Indonesian wooden vessel, elevated by the comfort and refinement of a private yacht charter in Indonesia.
Every plank, curve and sail pays tribute to the Konjo boatbuilders of South Sulawesi, whose inherited knowledge has been passed down through generations. Their art belongs to the wider South Sulawesi pinisi yacht tradition, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
A Masterpiece Born from Tradition
To bring this vision to life, American naval architect Michael Kasten led the vessel’s design, while the revered Konjo boatbuilders transformed his vision into reality using skills refined over centuries.
Working by eye and guided by inherited knowledge, the craftsmen shaped Dunia Baru’s immense timber structure with extraordinary precision. As premium timber became increasingly difficult to source, the team travelled deep into Kalimantan to select the teak and ironwood required for her construction.
The result is a singular yacht in Indonesia, one that honours ancient boatbuilding traditions while establishing a new benchmark for modern luxury sailing.
